Peanut Butter is one of the widely used nut butter in the world. Peanut butter is a paste or spread, made from roasted peanuts. It often contains additional ingredients that modify the taste/ texture as additives, such as salt, sweeteners or emulsifiers. 100 grams of peanut butter contains 588 calories in it!! It is full of healthy fats. So, yes…peanut butter makes you gain weight.

Peanut butter is a paste made from dry, roasted peanuts. This paste is generally used as a spread on toast or sandwiches. It is full of healthy fats, which contains nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, monounsaturated fatty acids, folate, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, thiamin, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A, sodium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, phosphorous, selenium, copper, iron, and zinc. And hence, it has a lot of health benefits such as it lowers the risk of blood pressure, prevent gallstones, lowers colon cancer etc to mention a few.

It is mostly used as a spread on bread, plus/minus jam. It is also used in smoothies and milkshakes, cookies etc these days.

How to make Peanut Butter at Home in Just 5 Minutes!

Peanut Butter can be easily prepared at home by dry roasting some raw peanuts, remove its skin, and grind it to make a smooth paste out of it.

Why do I recommend you to make Peanut Butter at home?

In the Indian market, it is ₹100 for a 200-gram bottle of Peanut Butter. Compare this with the cost of peanuts, when you can get 1 kilogram of raw peanuts at just ₹80! I feel that is a huge difference. The store bought peanut Butter also has a lot of emulsifiers/preservatives! Hence, I always prefer homemade ones than the readymade peanut butter.

Does Peanut Butter Help in Gaining Weight?

Yes, try to include a teaspoon of Peanut Butter in every possible meal! It can magically gain your weight! I remember I gained 1 kilogram overnight when I had lots of Peanut Butter fudge the day before. True!

Just 3 Ingredients required for making Peanut Butter at home:

1. Peanuts – You can buy raw peanuts and dry roast it at home or buy roasted peanuts directly from stores.
2. Sugar / any other sweetener of your choice.
3. Salt – just a pinch

Procedure:-
Step 1: Dry roast the peanuts in a pan on a medium flame until the peanuts are cooked completely. Though this step is optional, roasting the peanuts gives it a deeper taste (+ it eliminates the raw taste of peanuts). So I always make sure to roast it.

Step 2: Allow it to cool down completely. Take a handful of it and rub it between your palms to get the skin out of it.

Step 3: Take a clean mixer grinder jar. Wipe it off to remove the excess water. Add the peanuts and grind it to a powder (15 Secs).

Step 4: Open the jar, scrap the contents from the side of the jar and pulse it again for 20 seconds. Do this step until the mixture starts to ooze out some oil.

Step 5: Add sugar and the salt to taste. Grind until the mixture turns Creamy in texture and light in color.

Store in an airtight container and keep this in your refrigerator.

Stay away from the pricey store-bought peanut butter full of preservatives. Although it is the quickest thing to do, you will realize how pocket-friendly and tasty it is to make one for yourself and your family. You don’t have to think twice before making your next batch.

N.B: Do not operate the mixie for a long time without attention. The oil from the peanuts will start to release a lot and your mixie will turn hot, which will affect the consistency of the end product.
